The beautiful natural landscape of the site provided the inspiration for this rural Washington County residence. After purchasing the property the clients realized the existing residence didn’t function well for their needs, nor did it take advantage of the natural amenities the site offered. The resulting redesign showcases the site by re-orienting a new residence that fully captures defined views outward from all interior spaces while providing balanced natural daylight across each room. This simple, but elegant design solution provides an open concept living and kitchen area that allows early morning sunlight to filter across the rooms. In the evening the home provides protection from harsh West sun allowing for enjoyment of exterior areas from the elevated flagstone deck. A cantilevered deep implied porch is reminiscent of Texas farmhouses but absent column supports, provided for uninterrupted views onto the East lawn. A natural southeast breeze across the ponds further enhances evening enjoyment with views of the rolling hills and landscape.
