Citizens State Bank, Brenham

2017 AIA Brazos Chapter Design Award

Programmatic Requirements

Located at a prominent intersection in the area, Citizens State Bank wanted to take advantage of this location and its branch’s strong growth with a 10,739 SF expansion. Relocating the existing teller line to a new main lobby and creating a community room from the previous bank entry and lobby would allow the bank to offer its customers an important space for a multitude of functions.

Design Solutions

The interior features a spacious clerestory-lighted main lobby with adjacent new accounts spaces enclosed with glass office fronts enhancing customer service focus. A new safe deposit vault with viewing areas, loan lobby and offices, and employee-only back-of-bank functions such as an employee breakroom, cash vault and fireproof storage were also incorporated. The existing bank lobby was repurposed as the community room with the addition of its own serving space allowing for catered events.

BBA Architects continued the strong visual identity for the growth of this bank branch by integrating the bands of chopped stone veneer with new sawn-cut faced stone slabs. This brings a more refined look to the expansion that still keys off of the existing facility’s exterior image branding utilized at several other branch banks completed by our firm.
