Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative

La Grange, Texas

Programmatic Requirements

Expansion of the telephone cooperative’s services and formation of the cooperative’s wholly owned subsidiaries, Colorado Valley Celltel and CVTV, prompted an increase in employees and storage needs. Crowded office conditions at the original facility built in 1964 necessitated that portable buildings be moved in as temporary office space.

Design Solutions

The exterior style of the new corporate headquarters and warehouse was influenced by local architecture of the area. The metal-clad clerestory over the octagonal shaped main lobby rises above the rest of the building and in combination with the entrance porch creates a grand entryway for the office facility. The juxtaposition of the rough-cut limestone veneer with metallic accents throughout accomplishes the design goal of a progressive, forward-looking company in touch with its rural surroundings.
