Programmatic Requirements
Daniel Stark is a personal injury law firm dedicated to helping those who have been injured by other’s negligence. Its principal office is located in Bryan/College Station, with branch offices in Austin, Waco, and Killeen. The firm’s continued growth necessitated expansion equivalent to doubling its existing space in this Waco office. Expansion of the lobby and reception area, an added conference room, client restrooms, lawyer offices and support spaces make up the new addition.
Design Solutions
The design concept includes merging the new space with the adjacent building’s historic fabric. Uncovering and structurally supporting an existing brick masonry demising wall between the two buildings was challenging to execute. It was worth the effort in that it provided not only a distinct separating element to the office, but also warmth and a nod to burgeoning downtown Waco’s renaissance of historic buildings. The reception area features unifying floating ceiling that makes the connection between the two buildings. The finishes are reminiscent of the corporate headquarters building in downtown Bryan, creating a consistent firm graphic and environmental identity.
