Programmatic Requirements

Upon retirement from his medical practice, Dr. Malinak and his wife decided to move to property located just west of Brenham in Greenvine. The client requested a “Plantation” style home with wrap-around porch in order to view the scenery.

Design Solutions

The home was sited in a pre-selected location on the property within a group of owner-planted live oaks. The formal arrangement of the home was juxtaposed with the informal rear deck form, which faces the dry creek and trees that meander through the property. The voluminous great room/library is the central focus of the home. Amenities include five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms with great room, loft/library and theatre room. Approximately 3,100 square feet of living area is in the first floor with approximately 2,000 square feet in the second floor.
