Programmatic Requirements

This couple made the decision to move to the Austin County area from St. Louis after retirement to be closer to family members. They desired a retirement home reminiscent of the Greek Revival-style of architecture, with its elaborate entablature and striking symmetry of the windows and columns.

Design Solutions

Situated on 160 acres in Austin county, Texas, the home sits on a high hill overlooking the site. With its heavy cornice, deep entry portico, and simple symmetry, the house is both formal and classic while paying homage to the regional vernacular architecture with its rough cut limestone cladding, window proportions and divisions, and metal roof.
